Description
The philosophy of the Higher Diploma and Master�s program in family counselling is based on building a well-established knowledge base for family counselling workers, and those who comply with all workers in social welfare institutions and health centers who perform therapeutic and developmental guidance tasks, both in the Kingdom of Bahrain and in the Arab countries, and train and enhance them. This is in the light of theoretical and applied developments, and according to their needs in the field of specialization. This program is directed at a professional and applied technical destination that aims to prepare practicing specialists in the field of family counseling, helping to achieve the following: Mastery of the theoretical, cognitive and scientific foundations of family counseling, mastery of the basic techniques in family counseling and practicing them professionally, mastery of research and planning foundations in family counseling and practice it professionally. This program is aimed specifically at all workers in social care institutions and health centers who carry out treatment and development counseling tasks in the Kingdom of Bahrain or Arab countries.

Requirements
The following conditions are required for admission to the Program: 1- The applicant must have a bachelor�s degree from the University of Bahrain or its equivalent from other universities recognized by University of Bahrain in psychology, education, special education, or social service, with a GPA not less than 2.67 out of 4.00 according to the points system or its equivalent and have appropriate practical experience. 2- To succeed in the personal interview required by the Department. 3- The applicant must have a TOEFL Certificate in the English language or its equivalent in a degree determined by the Department, or pass two remedial courses in the English language, and the student�s admission is canceled in the event that these two courses are not successfully passed for the second time. 4- Passing a written test in the English language prepared by the English Language Center at the University of Bahrain, and whoever does not pass this test must study two English language courses. 5- The Bachelor's degree holders from other majors who meet the conditions mentioned in items (1-2-3) can be accepted on condition that they study three pre-requisite courses in psychology, which are: Introduction to Psychology, Childhood and Adolescent Psychology, and Social Psychology, and hours of these remedial courses are not counted within the required credit hours for the Higher Diploma and Master Programs of Family Counseling. 5 6- To submit two recommendations from academic professors or renowned professional references in the field.
